Cape Clear Island Races

Seekers of physical challenge and lovers of the Great Outdoors should register at pace for the Cape Clear Island Races on 29 August 2026.

This will be the first ever half marathon and 10 km on Cape Clear. Pioneered by the Outer Edge Events Eire –sister company to OuterEdge Events, which has successfully been putting on events like this for over a decade. The company has gained considerable experience of similar events – including the famous Lundy Island Race in the UK, where they host the beloved annual half marathon which has been running for over 7 years.

Challenging Terrain and Stunning Views

It goes without saying that the race will cover very challenging terrain, offering authentic physical adventure in our stunning maritime landscape. While the precise route is still to be finalized organizers will make best use of the existing trails network wherever possible. They are grateful for the very positive response received from landowners to date.

Limited Entry

The event will be limited to 400 participants and the entry fee includes transport to and from the Island on our new fast ferry, Carraig Aonair. This will afford participants a foretaste of the scenic adventures that will await them on the Island.

Intense International Interest

Interest from the trail running community has been intense with the race already almost sold out. So far applications have been received from as far away as London, Germany and Canada.
