Sherkin Island lies in Roaringwater Bay, West Cork, in the south west of Ireland. Just 3 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, Sherkin has a variety of landscapes, which is both tranquil and breathtaking. There is a regular ferry service between the village of Baltimore and Sherkin, with a journey time of just 10 minutes and hourly frequency making Sherkin one of Ireland’s most accessible offshore islands.
Sherkin buzzes with activity during the summer months and locals are renowned for their warmth and hospitality. Traditional music is very important on the island, both with the islanders themselves and with visiting musicians.
Sherkin House is an ideal base for a break away from the hustle and bustle of life. The property has 21 coastal style ensuite bedrooms all offering stunning sea views of Baltimore Harbour. The rooms consist mostly of doubles with some family rooms available.
Sherkin House offers fresh Irish produce with something to suit everyone’s taste. Relax and enjoy in the bar which serves food daily. Irish music is played in the bar on the weekend, and it is one of the island’s informal social meeting places, where craic, conversation, and comfort go hand in hand with the West Cork tradition of music and song.
A major attraction of Sherkin House is the marina at Dún na Long Castle, located close by. This facility is available from April to September (weather permitting). It provides facilities for the seafarer which includes mooring, electricity and water.
