Bere Island Heritage Bus Tour

10:11 by admin

Bere Island Heritage Bus Tours give you a fantastic opportunity to learn about the fascinating history of this storied island in Bantry Bay

Bere island lies at the entrance to the magnificent Bantry Bay and guards the deep water harbour of Berehaven. Due to its strategic location, Bere Island has played an important role in Ireland’s story over the centuries.

The island is rich in archaeological sites dating from the Bronze Age through to Medieval times, including ring forts, standing stones, wedge tombs and burial sites.

Bere Island Heritage Bus Tours run weekly each Thursday and alternate between the East and West Ends of Bere Island, taking in sights such as the island’s Martello towers and the traces of the island’s military past. (See our events calendar to choose a date and tour that suits your schedule).

Book these intriguing West Cork bus tours online using the form below. Please plan your trip carefully to ensure that you arrive at the right end of the island to begin your tour in a relaxed fashion!

To check the ferry time for the date you have chosen, please check our online events calendar which will have up to date details.

Please note, online booking is suitable up to 24 hours before the bus tour begins. To arrange a tour with less notice, or to arrange a bespoke tour on another date (min. 2 people), ring the Bere Island Heritage Centre on 027 75956.
