Experience the magic of the Bere Island Festival
The Bere Island Festival is a week-long celebration of family-friendly activities and events, suitable for all ages. Whether you’re looking for sports, quizzes, talent competitions, or simply a chance to enjoy live music, the festival has something for everyone.
Each year the community and visitors come together for a fun-filled week of activities. The festival offers you the chance to mingle with the community, explore the island and join the many activities that are lined up for this year.
Full details of the 2023 festival, including the children’s sports day, biathlon and watersports events will be announced shortly.

Tuesday 2nd August
Soccer Tournament Draw – To enter a team contact David Elphick 086 8779667.
Wednesday 3rd August
Festival Table Quiz – 8pm at The Bere Island Hotel.
Thursday 4th August
Children’s Biathlon – 2pm from the Community Centre.
Cycle to the Cross and then run to the village.
Children’s Fancy Dress, Talent Competition and Disco – 5pm at The Bere Island Hotel
Friday 5th August
Children’s Sports Day – 2pm at The Rec. (GAA Pitch)
Adult’s Biathlon – 7pm Cycle from the West End Pier to the Hotel and then run to the village
Live Music – 10pm in Dessie’s and The Bere Island Hotel
Saturday 6th August
Bere Island parkrun – 9.30am from the GAA Pitch
Watersports – 12 noon at the Pier, Rerrin
• Swimming • Walk the Pole • Pillow Fights • Kayak Racing • Raft Race • Rowing • Prize giving
Regatta Farmers Market – 12 noon at the Pier Rerrin

The Hold book launch and concert by The Starlings – 7pm The Lecture Theatre, Rerrin POSTPONED
Mary Sullivan in collaboration with Bere Island Women Create will launch The Hold, a book outlining how 24 island women came together during lockdown. They created a unique patchwork quilt based on the hold the island has on them with an exhibition centred on their lives as island women. The launch will be followed by a gig by The Starlings (free event).

Sunday 7th August
Annual Graveyard Mass – 10am St Michael’s Church
5-a-Side Soccer – 12 noon at the GAA Pitch
Festival BBQ – 2pm at The Bere Island Hotel
• Live music • Pedal go-kart event • Egg throwing • Poc Fada • Wheelbarrow Race
There will be bus transport from the Hotel to Robbie’s Cross for the Poc Fada along the low road
Music and RNLI Festival Draw- 10pm at the Bere Island.
