Wild Atlantic Glamping

West Cork Runners Retreat
Need an island experience to look forward to this summer?
After two successful West Cork runners retreats in 2022, Wild Atlantic Glamping and Forget the Gym founder Mary Jennings are excited to be hosting the 2023 retreats again on the beautiful Beara Peninsula.
The runners retreat will be held on Bere Island over 4 days (3 nights). Staying in the unique Wild Atlantic Glamping, this runners retreat is a true getaway – the views don’t get any more spectacular than this.
There will be two retreats this summer (July and August).
- July: Monday 17th – Thursday 20th
- Aug: Monday 14th – Thursday 17th
What will we be doing?
Our summer escapes are suitable for anyone who can run 5k between 25 and 35 minutes. Any longer runs we do on the escape will have plenty breaks along the way. The focus will be on enjoyment of our running, taking some time to focus on mindful running, technique, mobility, injury prevention and planning for our running future. There is no pressure to run fast or run far! In fact, we want you to leave feeling refreshed rather than tired.
Your Accommodation.
Wild Atlantic Glamping is made up of 10 luxury bell tents each with their own private terrace. There is an architecturally designed common area which we will use for our meals and certain coaching sessions. You can choose to book at full tent for yourself (limited availability) or team up with a running buddy to share a tent.
We aim to source of our food as much as as possible directly from the island working with local chefs and home cooks. With local brown bread, seasonal produce and a little pre dinner cocktail hour (with a local twist) you will even get meet some of our food producers and taste the best west cork has to offer.
Full details can be found here including cost of the retreat.
Book your place: Please email Mary if you are keen to book in with your accommodation preference, any dietary requirements and a little info about the running you currently do.
About Mary Jennings
Mary founded Forget The Gym 15 years ago when she left her ‘proper job’ to follow her passion for moving outdoors. A relative late comer to fitness, Mary understands what it’s like not to feel ‘sporty’ and loves building confidence in new runners and helping people reach their running goals.
