Over this July weekend, help us celebrate the art of Percy Hall and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the island that inspires him
In 1963, Percy Hall came to West Cork on holiday and fell in love with the islands of Roaringwater Bay. Six years later, he moved into a house on Heir Island with his wife, Pat, and two small children.
Inspired by the landscape and the opportunity that had opened up for him, Percy, who had trained as a potter, chose to become an artist – something he had always wanted to do. He quickly established a reputation, exhibiting frequently over a number of years in Cork city. To this day he continues to sell paintings from his artist’s studio on Heir Island.
Visit galleries across the island, including those of Christine Thery and John Desmond, while enjoying Heir Island’s wonderful walks.
You’ll also have the chance to enjoy stunning sounds from Barefoot Baroque on the pier from 4.30pm. Ó Crualaoí burgers and fine wine will be available for purchase on the pier. And complimentary tea and coffee will be available at Heir Island Sailing School.
