Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival is one of just nine organisations selected nationwide to receive a €15,000 National Lottery Good Cause Legends 2026 award.
The award give national recognition for the impact that the festival has made to its community on the island and to storytellers and audiences beyond. The announcement comes just ahead of the 2026 festival (4-6 September 2026), and is a fitting tribute to the outstanding contribution the festival makes to preserving and celebrating culture and heritage.
Cape Clear Storytelling showcases and helps to preserve Irish culture, music, language and island heritage, while also celebrating other traditions, and providing a gathering place for the storytelling community.
Originally founded in 1994 by Chuck and Nell Kruger, the festival helps keep the Irish tradition of storytelling alive, and is now world renowned for showcasing top class storytelling against the dramatic backdrop of West Cork’s Oileán Chléire – Cape Clear.
One of Ireland’s most unique cultural events, the Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival 2026 takes place from 4-6 September, providing visitors with the opportunity to experience superb storytelling in spectacular surroundings.
