1. West Cork Fit-Up Theatre Festival
14th July – 12th August (Bere, Heir, Sherkin and Whiddy islands)
One of the highlights of a West Cork summer is the opportunity to see great actors putting on wonderful performances against the backdrop of a West Cork island. We’ll post details of theatre performances on Bere, Heir, Sherkin and Whiddy islands on our events calendar for location and dates.
2. Recording our Bere Island History – Heritage Week | Bere Island
18th August 2022 Bere Island Heritage Centre
As part of the Burren Beo Trust’s Heritage Keepers programme, Bere Island Projects Group are recording an oral history of Bere Island, preserving the stories and voices of the island’s past for the future. For National Heritage Week 2022 we are launching Recording Our Bere Island History, making available a number of interviews that have already been recorded, outlining our ongoing plans for the project and members of the project will be on hand to give advice on best practice in recording an oral history interview.
3. Cape Clear Story-Telling Festival
2nd – 4th September | Cape Clear
Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival is a hybrid festival with a combination of both live events on beautiful Cape Clear Island and some evening online performances that can be shared with our storytelling community around the world. We look forward to joining you at this year’s festival.
4. Learn to Sing with an Expert Vocal Coach | Sherkin Island
Vocal Workshop 30th September – 3rd October 2022 (Sherkin Island)
Find your voice in a wonderful weekend of vocal workshops with expert vocal coach, Brian O’Donnell. The workshop is open to both novice and experienced. Brian is a professional singer, voice teacher and Music Director who served on the faculty of SUNY Brockport in New York.
5. Visit an Island Art Gallery
A visit to the Island Art Gallery on Heir Island – open all summer – or visits to the art studios on Sherkin Island are lovely things to do.You’re sure to be inspired by our creative communities when you visit our West Cork islands.
