Enjoy running the Wild Atlantic Way when you join us on Bere Island for our weekly, timed 5k parkrun!
The views across Bantry Bay towards the Beara and Sheep’s Head peninsulas are spectacular, and the event is suitable for all abilities: walk, jog, or run and test yourself against your best time … It’s up to you!
What is parkrun?
Parkrun is a not-for-profit organisation which works with local communities to provide free weekly timed runs.
Their popularity has grown because the community events are so welcoming to runners of all abilities. Runners find the timed 5k events are ideal as part of a training plan, or just as a fun challenge. Participants also like the fact that they can keep track of their progress using their official times as a benchmark of their progress, particularly over the winter months when there are few other running events available to keep a training programme on course.
The event takes place at the GAA club Rerrin village, Bere Island, Beara, Co. Cork, and it’s free to enter. To collect your time, you’ll need to be a registered parkrunner, and bring your barcode. You can register online here.
Every week we grab a post parkrun coffee in the Bakehouse cafe, Rerrin village, on the island – please come and join us!
