The West Cork Fit-Up Theatre Festival presents From Under the Bed on Heir Island
Arthur Riordan and Seamus O’Rourke star as a pair of aging bachelor brothers in this nostalgic tale of rural life set on a farm in 1970s’ Leitrim. While the rest of the country is bracing itself for the arrival of Pope John Paul II and his Popemobile in 1979, a troubled Pat succumbs to the need for a late night, late-in-life crisis …
Written by Seamus O’Rourke, From Under the Bed is a story full of heartache and humour, as the brothers arrive at a point in their lives, where decisions have to be made about certain things… well the buying of a television for one… and one subject leads to another and the next thing, they’re bringing up all kinds of ‘auld shite’ that could have been left under the bed along with everything else.
‘The poignant undercurrent is salted by some earthy humour, beautifully handled by the performers.’ ****The Irish Mail on Sunday
Seating begins at 7:30 pm and the show starts at 8:30pm in the Island Cottage Gallery on Heir Island.
A ferry from Cunnamore leaves at 20.00 (8pm), returning after the performance. Special discounted rates apply (€3.00 adults, €1.50 child/OAP). Limited seating at venue.
