Jo Ashby and Majella O’Neill Collins are combining their forces for an art exhibition highlighting the vistas of Sherkin Island. They are calling it “More Distant Views”. Both make Sherkin their home and are continually inspired by the changing light and weather of this maritime place.
More about Jo Ashby
Jo’s journey into art and painting began at home as both her parents were practicing artists and art teachers. At a young age she was determined to set out on a different path and as a result her initial studies were in psychology.
More about Majells O’Neill Collins
Majella O’Neill Collins was born in West Cork in 1964. She studied at Limerick School of Art and Design and now lives and works on Sherkin Island, West Cork. She is currently a facilitator on the BA (hons) Visual Arts Degree Programme on Sherkin Island and was one of the key people involved in its set-up from the Pilot Programme in 1999 to 2002 to its accreditation as an honours degree programme by Dublin Institute of Technology.
