Coastal Painting is a personal expression of an eternal wonder…
This residential art weekend takes place in the stunning setting of Sherkin North Shore, affording unparalleled views across Roaring Water Bay, whilst only a short walk from the best beaches on the island. This course focuses on coastal painting and the subject of the sea, in all its moods. It includes activities to gain a better understanding of how to describe the sea and coastline in paint, whilst developing one’s own personal style and form of expression.
There will be opportunities to share and reflect, or space to make personal investigations into the eternal wonders of the seas.
The groups are deliberately kept very small, with a maximum of 8 people, to promote a more intimate group dynamic and allow for more extensive individual tuition as appropriate.
The weekend begins on Friday evening, when participants come together for supper at North Shore and get to know each other over the delicious food prepared by Kathy & Mike. The work then begins on Saturday morning, after a fabulous breakfast, meeting in the workroom at about 9.45am. The exact structure of each day will be in influenced by the weather, to ensure that participants can take best advantage of staying in this amazing setting. The day will be punctuated by lunch and tea/coffee breaks, so there is no fear of anyone going hungry or thirsty. The ‘official’ working day usually ends at about 4pm, but everyone gathers later for pre-supper drinks, to reflect on the day, chat, look at art books and marvel at the stunning sunsets for which North Shore is so well-known.
The weekend draws to a close on Monday afternoon.
